June 16 - Day 341 - More Drywall

First of all: Happy Father's Day to my sexy General Contractor.
He's off the clock here :)

Saturday morning the drywall crew returned to
drywall the garage and the basement.
We had to wait until the HVAC guys were ready to
close up all the water lines to the upstairs floor heat.

Bryan wasn't quite finished with the wiring down there
so he had to scramble because these guys work fast.

The garage.

I cleaned up after the trim carpenters one last time.

 AFTER:

I'll be so glad to see that rack of lumber leave my living room!

June 15 - Day 340 - One Million Balusters

The trim carpenters have finished for now. They'll be back later. The entry bench is done and is beautiful. The stair railing was kind of a tedious job but it looks pretty impressive. Emily asked him how many balusters there were and he said "one million" so we're leaving it at that :) Thanks, guys, for all your hard work and skill, and for putting up with all our frequent visits to the job site.

June 12 -- Day 336 -- Craftsman Style From the Trim Carpenters

The trim carpenters have been very busy for several weeks now:
 Window and door trim

They are putting in my doors.

And building my library shelves. This is them mid stream.

And the library fireplace in process.

And the closets . . .

And the stair treads and railing.
These stairs are beautiful!
I know they have been time consuming for the carpenters,
but they look so fabulous.

This is the library shelves completed. They are all oak.
This picture is too dark and you can't tell how great they look,
but this room will look amazing.

We have also had the painters out working on the outside.

They painted the ceilings on the porch.

Bryan and I have been out there working a lot as well.
I am the clean up crew and general go-fer.
I also get to answer all the questions everyone has!
And I have been picking out cabinet hardware.
For some reason I can only do one room at a time :)

This was Monday morning at 7am  --  putting down backer board.
We were out there until 9:30 Sunday night and didn't get to this job.

There is lots more going on but I will quit for now and try to be back soon!

Day 326 - Craftsman Trim Carpentry

Another good week with things happening every day! I like that.

The trim carpenters have been here for more than two weeks now. We had a huge delivery of materials on May 10.

They have started trimming out the windows and doors. We also came up with layouts for the master closet and the library and the entryway. That was fun!

Here you can see the posts for the railing.

The HVAC guys are in and out occasionally.

We are watering the grass everyday and it is starting to look really good!

Day 305 -- Oak Hardwood Floors, Kitchen Cabinets

Well, it has been three weeks since I wrote anything. It has been three rather stressful weeks. There is no doubt that things do not always go the way you plan and the drama increased before it decreased.  But eventually, with a lot of prayer, things worked out.

So here is what is happening:

The hardwood floors have been installed and they look amazing.
[They will be stained and finished later.]

The cabinets arrived and they are getting installed.

They aren't done but so far I love them!

This is the laundry room.

And Bryan is wiring the garage.

So all in all this has been a good week and things are moving ahead!
Next week should be another good one!
